This article is about the area in the games. You may be looking for the location in the spinoff TV series.

The Ruins, also known as Eon's Citadel, is the main hub world in the console versions of Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure. It is what remained of the citadel that surrounded the Core of Light after it was destroyed by Kaos, and it is the main headquarters for the Skylanders. The player comes here after each level, where they may upgrade the skills of their Skylanders and complete Heroic Challenges.

As each of the components of the Core of Light is restored, the Ruins will gradually change in appearance, becoming more lush and vibrant. As of Skylanders: Giants, the Citadel was partially rebuilt, though a few buildings were still missing. However, as of Skylanders: SuperChargers, the Core of Light was moved to the Skylanders Academy and repurposed into the Skylanders' main headquarters, and the citadel's current state and function are unknown.

Tips

  • Easy money collecting tips: each time you come back to the Ruins, towards the bottom of the area will be a bunch of brambles. Each time you attack a bramble, it gives you one coin. But be forewarned, this doesn't last forever. Hugo will eventually ask you to clear all the brambles, and after that, only a few will appear each time.
  • Wii only: The Hidden Treasure item from the Pirate Seas expansion also works in the Ruins. After you've found the chest, talk to someone and the chest will reappear in the same spot. NOTE : This does not appear to work if you talk to Clam-tron 4000.
  • Near the area where Arbo first appeared there is a tower built out of multiple layers. Each layer has an elemental symbol on it and attacking it with a Skylander of the same element will cause the layer to disappear. When all the layers are gone, the top piece will explode, releasing money. The tower has very few elemental symbols when gone near the first time. Each time all layers are successfully destroyed, a new layer (element) will be added until all 8 are collected.

Trivia

  • Most of the characters who take the Skylanders to certain levels represent one of the Elements: Flynn (Air) Gurglefin (Water), Diggs (Earth and Fire), Arbo (Life), General Robot (Tech), T-Bone (Undead), Weapon Master (Magic).
  • When a Skylander either walks up the stairs from the beach to the plateau or walks under the beam of light shining near the Core of Light, the nearby torches light up in their corresponding element’s color. Magic Skylanders create purple flames, Earth Skylanders create yellow flames, Water Skylanders create blue flames, Fire Skylanders create red flames, Tech Skylanders create orange flames, Undead Skylanders create black flames, Air Skylanders create white flames, and Life Skylanders create green flames.
  • Each Winged Sapphire appears in a place next to an area that takes you to another part of Skylands. The location for all ten Winged Sapphires are as follows:
    • Next to Persephone after clearing Stormy Stronghold.
    • Behind the gate on the beach after clearing Leviathan Lagoon.
    • Inside a secret area that is opened after oiling the robot on the beach.
    • On an island reached using Bounce Pads that can be accessed by either a flying Skylander or a Skylander of the Water element.
    • Hidden underneath the rock next to Hugo and Arbo after clearing Treetop Terrace.
    • Behind the gate to the train tracks after clearing Creepy Citadel.
    • Behind a sealed opening covered by rock near the train that can be destroyed with a bomb.
    • Inside the geyser near the train after throwing a bomb into it.
    • Inside the train after oiling it.
    • Behind the door with the Lockmaster Imp on the docks after clearing Arkeyan Armory.
  • Ghost Roaster can die in the hub because of his health-draining Ectoplasm Mode, as can non-Fire Skylanders at a certain point in the game. This can happen when the Molekin set up tents and a fire after Crystal Eye Castle. All Skylanders not of the Fire element can die from touching the fire (however, this is only possible in the Wii version of Spyro's Adventure).
  • As seen in Spell Punk Library, millennia ago, Eon's Citadel was known as Ancient's Peak, referred to as the "lost citadel of the Portal Masters". Nothing is known about the first incident that made it be lost - the only event known to wipe numerous Portal Masters from Skylands was after the Core of Light's first recent activation.
  • Prior to the collection of the Eternal Water Source, the vines on the cliff beyond the Ruins' train tracks appear dry and brown. Once the Water Source is obtained, the vines become a healthy green color.
  • After the Eternal Life Source is obtained, pink flowers appears on the Ruins' skeletal trees. Exotic foliage and giant white flowers also sprout around the Ruins.
  • Whenever a new part is added to the Core of Light, the torches in the following cutscene burn with the color of the Element that each piece belongs to.
  • Skylanders with certain dash-type attacks, such as Stealth Elf and Drobot, can reach the normally inaccessible Stone Bridge in the Ruins by dashing into the bounce pads stationed over the water.
  • Using his Force Field Ball ability around the stairs, Wrecking Ball can clip underneath the Ruins and find stash of normally hidden models, including cannons, a raft, Flavius, treasure, and a Winged Sapphire.
    • Wrecking Ball's force field can also allow him to clip off the Stone Bridge and into the water, where it is possible to reach a collision gap and fall into the sky. This will cause the player to end up softlocked in the game's void.
